Late medieval chants from the north

In 1201 Albert von Buxthoeven from Bremen founded the city of Riga. Under him, as the first bishop of Livonia, it became the starting point of further Christianization of the Baltic region. Gregorian chants and polyphonic chants of that time are cultivated by the Schola Cantorum Riga to this day. “Like the Morning Star in the Mist” is a Hamburg church chant of the 14th century – the time when the Krummin Monastery Church was built, where it is now heard.
