“Tsar of the cellists” Peter Tchaikovsky had called Karl Davidov, born in 1838. The great musician came from Goldingen in present-day Latvia. And where Davidov is a tsar, our festival regular David Geringas is at least a grand prince of the cello. He and Ian Foutain are joined in this concert by an equally prominent guest: Ints Dalderis, the former Minister of Culture of Latvia, on clarinet.
