Music of gods and devils: Latvian kokle and other instruments

Music in Latvia goes back many centuries and knows ancient instruments such as the kokle (a board zither), the bagpipes and the Jew’s harp. Valdis Muktupāvels knows and plays them all, including the buckhorn and the much younger harmonica. Besides the sounding folklore from the Latvian regions of Courland, Semgallen and Lettgallen, there are also explanations about the cultural history of the instruments, like the music.
