Siegfried von Vegesack (1888-1974) is one of the greats of Baltic German literature, who at the same time was an early advocate of understanding between Germans and Latvians. His aunt stories are warm-hearted and humorous portraits of kind and courageous women, at the same time pictures of rural life in Latvia shortly before 1900. This is accompanied by German-Baltic piano music from exactly that time: intimate, sensitive, with wit.
