Sharon Kam has for years been one of the outstanding clarinettists of her generation. Born in Israel and long resident in Germany, she is as much at home with the great orchestras of Europe and America as she is in chamber music. Mozart's Clarinet Concerto has accompanied her throughout her career — in Peenemünde she plays the work that, like no other, stands for the singing tone of her instrument.
Latvian conductor Andris Poga leads the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra in the cheerful "Midsummer Vigil" by Sweden's Hugo Alfvén and Pyotr Tchaikovsky's Fifth Symphony in E minor op. 64.
Change of soloist: Sharon Kam takes over the solo part in Mozart's Clarinet Concerto in place of Martin Fröst.
Programme change: Instead of the "Manfred Symphony" op. 58 announced earlier, Pyotr Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 5 in E minor op. 64 will be performed.
