Only a few times a year, and only for a few hours, does the turbine hall of the former Peenemünde Power Station become a concert hall – arguably the most unusual and most historically charged in Europe. Where the energy for the rocket tests of the Second World War was once generated, music resounds today. Every concert in this place is a rarity.
For the 2027 opening, the Baltic Sea Philharmonic returns. Founded in 2008 out of the Usedom Music Festival, it stands today more urgently than ever for the cultural bond between all ten countries of the Baltic Sea region: young musicians from every country on its shores make music together across borders and political divides. On the podium is Robert Trevino, the Lithuania-based American whose unusually beautiful conducting even the New York Times has praised.
The power of this orchestra, playing from memory, in a hall whose history makes the longing for peace tangible with every bar, is unforgettable.
With this evening we open the Usedom Music Festival 2027. Seats at the power station are limited – secure your tickets early.
Programme: to be announced.
