The old Teutonic Order provinces of Courland, Livonia and Estonia today roughly form the territory of the Republics of Latvia and Estonia. German families have lived here for centuries, leaving their mark with thousands of manor houses and castles that are still visible today. The German Cultural Forum for Eastern Europe in Potsdam and the Herder Institute in Marburg have selected a good forty examples for the exhibition, which will be commented on by the art historian and philologist Agnese Bergholde-Wolf. To set the mood, there will be piano music by Latvian and Baltic German composers.
