Antanas Škėma is one of the greatest writers in Lithuania. His life was rutted by the disasters of the twentieth century. Born in 1910 in what is now Poland and raised in Russia, he was part of the generation that sought to build an independent Lithuania between the world wars. Škėma took part in the uprising against the Soviet occupation, fled to Germany, was sent to a camp there and emigrated to America. Actress Corinna Harfouch was struck to the core by Škėma’s novel The White Sheet. It is a matter close to her heart to present the book in Claudia Sinnig’s translation. Hideyo Harada plays music that meant a lot to Antanas Škėma.
